It is better!

It has been several months since I have written. I have spent much time reading and working with 4H. I read the Hunger Games Trilogy and Cutting for Stone. I learned there are people with big imaginations and that there is much to be learned from reading historical fiction. I work with Ian and I love it. I get to help with Math, science, social studies, and reading. He loves science so I always have an experiment ready for him. It is Thursday but due to the fact that Danny and I have been very sick with a virus I was not able to teach him today. Next week we'll do something interesting.

February Snow

Snow today!! It was beautiful coming down. Not much on the ground but there were large flakes . The little grandsons were out playing in it . The little one was bawling to high heaven because they were taking him in. It is really cold. Another Valentine's day tomorrow. That should be nice and messy. I probably won't leave the house. It should be a nice snuggle in the bed, read a book day! I do that a lot. I just found a cute quote. "one good thing about an egotist is they don't talk about other people. I actually cooked lunch today!! That was a surprise for my husband. He is quite good at taking me out!

Spring??

This is January 9, 2012 So far this year we have had beautiful weather. Sunshine, and spring like weather. It has been so nice. We still need heat and I am thankful that I have that. I am still reading a lot and baby sitting. We enjoy the grandchildren so much. They range in age of 30, 25, 17, 8, and 18 months. We are lucky to get to see them often. Two live next door and the other two live within 25 miles, and 8 miles for the Rectorite. I have many blessings and always thank God for these. I am actually planning to cook a little today!! Danny takes me out a lot and that is really good!

January Sunshine

We have had beautiful weather for a few days...except for the wind. Last night, I was awakened by the roaring. It sounds like a four-wheeler trying to come through my car port. -Being Sunday, we headed for church about 9:00 A.M. The wind had died down and the sun was shining. It was another sad day for us. Everywhere we looked things were changing. The church that had been so alive for the 50 years that I have been with the Dortch family was dying. Only 7 people for Sunday school and 8 for church. It is almost over for this little country church. Many young people grew up coming to that church, but moved away when they reached adulthood. The economy was better further north. It is now left with an 89 year old pastor and his 85 year old wife and several older individuals including us who are 67. So many houses are gone and people have gone home to be with their Lord. It is so depressing. I think that comes with old age. We can see how much has changed where young people cannot. We have a lot for which to be thankful, and we do not forget to remember to give thanks to God for our blessings. We have a good warm house, food to eat, clothes to wear, and healthy family members. I know things can change in a blink, but I will cherish each day that I have now.
